Kamath Yatri Nivas - Hotel in Murudeshwar

I stayed with my family in Kamath Yatri Niwas recently. Only good thing about it was the location as it is nearby to Temple and Beach. Apart from this everything was awful. Rooms were smelling very bad, we asked for changing our room they denied at first claiming hotel is full when we checked there was no one. Even after changing room smell was still same. They claim 24x7 room service but no service was provided. No drinking water available they charged us extra for it. Food was worst, they denied us when we asked for hot water and hot milk. Even they said Wifi was available but reality is no wifi was available and also mobile network is weak in room. Blankets were not at all clean, room and bathroom had cockroaches and mosquitos also we saw rat coming from AC pipeline.Receptionist was very rude, no proper answers as there were no toileteries in room, when we asked for it he said you should have said it. Basically everything was bad about the hotel. Please look for other hotel if you don't want a bad experience.

As the reviews were generally bad, to be on the safer side, I just ordered butter naan, simple dal tadka, curd rice and fried rice. All of them were just fine. Can't be too picky and fussy about food when travelling to small towns. The following. Day, I had breakfast ,iddly and masala dosa and they were good. One common theme I noticed is that you would get a wattered down version of sambar ,chutney and even tea 😀.

This review is in 2 parts as most of the reviewers confused by rating food and stay together. Also, there is a duplicate Kamath restaurant adjustant to this restaurant. (Which is actually substandard and most of the poort reviews are for that duplicate one) Please read completely to aviod confusion. Restaurant: This is a cleanest kitchen you will find in Murudeshwar. I have visited the kitchen inside, the Dosa station, Tiffin kitchen, Steam cooker and Punjabi kitchen is separate and maintain top notch cleanliness. Food: Tiffin (idli, vada, Dosa/uttappa, poha shira) is a USP of Kamath. Taste best and we survived 3 days on Idli and dosa varities we get here. (Since our scooba, activities took time beyond their closing hours, Tiffin was the only service available) Sambar and Chutney is very delicious and consistent taste we got for all 5 days. Pic shows various dosa options we ordered. Ghee dosasa (all dosa and uttappa they make it in Ghee) are special here must try. However Korma, curd rice are average can be better. Punjabi kitchen: there are very few places serve good Punjabi food. This is one of it. Tandoori roti, Butter roti/Naan is full of butter. Kaju Paneer, Paneer butter, Muttar Paneer are best. We did not experiment much as getting such nice Punjabi options are already luxury. Thalis: South Indian Thali: Cobtsints papad, Rice, sambar, Rassam one sweet and one South style subji. Taste authentic and wholesome for one. Punjabi Thali: Paneer sabji, mix veg, daal, sweet, rice and naan Or roti served in thali. Quantity is good and it's more than full for one 2 ppl can easily share this thali. Rassam / Sambar Rice: Simple but delicious basic meal. Coffee, Tea taste best and they accommodate special instructions like low sugar, strong etc correctly and deliver the best always. Stay: The rooms are one story above then the restaurant and second / third floor has double bed rooms. A/C non A/C options available. However, the hotel need lot of maintenance, broken tiles, plumbing, mismatch repairs, old furniture gives bad feeling. Also I found one of the blanket with hols?? They offer very low prices for AC rooms. But do not expect anything than a bed and washrooms.(spent only 1 night and shifed but food is best here) Must visit for a delicious food break when you are at Murudeshwar. On peak days, there is a wait but service is fast so you will get seat quickly.

I have lunch in this hotel.. At 2pm i am hungry .so hotel full rush . I take south indian meals. In this meal in paneer gravy had a piece of cloth..mostly it was BAND AID....i was shoked... I told the waiter and he replace another meal..but iam very bad situation in that time. I never forget this insident. Dont eat this hotel.take 190rs for lunch

We went to their restaurant and had butter roti with cashew curry. Food was very taste with good quantity. I think this is the best vegetarian restaurant in murudeshwara.

He is selling only on the brand name of KAMAT, but the food is overpriced. The chutney is watery, the service is very poor and rude, and the taste is just average without the original flavour… very poor in hygiene

Nice Hotel with very nice location, near by to temple and the beach. Rooms are clean and good. Food was good. Overall very nice stay.

Had lunch here only so this is a review of the restaurant only. I had special thali and it was surprisingly good. None of the items were spicy so I was able to finish. We also ordered a couple of curries, butter naan, butter roti, chapathi, curd rice and they were all satisfactory. Service was prompt and food delivery was quick.
